Ethan turns three!!

Our "big boy" Ethan recently turned 3. Birthdays in our family are quite special days and this one was no exception. We started the countdown to his birthday the week before and we had so much fun seeing the excitement in his face build up day after day as his B-day approached. When he went to bed the night before, he was smiling like a kid in a candy shop would. While he was asleep we decorated his room, the living room and kitchen with "Happy B-day" banners and streamers and you could just tell he was feeling pretty special in the morning when he saw all the decorations up for him. The presents began as soon as he woke up. First up, yet another train set.

To him, there's nothing more exciting than trains (and HSM and lighting McQueen stuff, of course) so what better birthday activity than going to the train station. After breakfast Mom and kids got ready and went to check out the local train scene.

He got to see 4 trains go by and even got to talk to a train engineer. This kid was in heaven!
We then had a birthday pool party graced by another one of those fantastic cakes Sarah can make. She did fantastic job recreating Lightning McQueen on the cake. Take a look.

No, this picture was not taken from a website. This is what 4+ hours of baking and decorating look like. Sarah's talents never cease to amaze me.

Ethan and friends enjoying the cake.

After the party we took Ethan to his favorite dinner in the whole world -chicken nuggets and french fries- and he was kind enough to let us skip McD in favor of...

After dinner, we took Ethan to his favorite thing to do: Miniature Golfing. He's only been a few times but he's gotten really good at it. Check this video out!
He really gets into it, check out the look on his face.

As you can see, this was a day he'll remember for quite a while. Everything he did and got that day was in his list of "All-time" favorites and had so much fun doing it all. And, of course, we loved making him feel as special as he really is. We are so happy to have him in our family. He is a happy kid with a great smile and a big heart. He is a pleasure to have and a blessing to all of us.

We love you Ethan!!

Yet, this was not all. The biggest present of them all was still to come. Grandma really out did herself this time. I don't know how she's supposed to top this present next year. She's set the bar pretty high, that's for sure. Stay tuned for details and pictures on our next post (it is much too late to keep going tonight. Something tells me I'm not coming in the lab early tomorrow morning).
